Candlelight Christmas

We had many days of Christmas this year. This is day two.

Brandon and I hosted my family, Annie and Kristen for a little holiday party, which consisted of some delicious fondue, more family and Christmas tree candles.

Heidi brought her camera and I think was too busy during the fondue part, eating of course, and I just didn't think to pull my camera out, so no pictures of that, although it was so so good. I'm ready for another fondue night for sure.

We invited Brandon's family as well as friends to come over later for the Christmas tree lighting. We didn't have much of a turn out, but Brandon's family came and it is always a pleasure to see them.

For as long as I can remember my family has purchases a real tree for Christmas (usually just days before Christmas, sometimes on Christmas Eve) and placed clips with candles on the branches. It requires a noble fir because their branches are strong and flat. We also waited to get our tree so that it was fresh. Fresh pine trees don't burn, dried out ones do.

This year my dad bought a tree for Brandon and, but it was a little early because he would be out of town. He had then make a fresh cut so when I got home I got it into water quickly. I had to leave it outside because tree tend to dry out quickly once they are brought inside. However, the weather was so cold so I vigilantly poured hot water on the iced that had formed morning and night.

As you will see from the pictures everything turned out. The tree was beautiful. Heidi took a lot of pictures, set up a lot of shots, some of which my dad and I got in the middle of.

If you look close you can see my ghostly figure on the left of the tree, the two glowing blue lights are my dad's phone.

the finished product, it really is beautiful!

It was a lovely evening. The next night we had a family from our ward come over for another tree lighting. She is from Switzerland and enjoyed the little taste of home.

this is what happens when you blow out all the candles but one, kinda creepy

Thank you to all you came and for those of you who couldn't make it, we'll get ya next year!
