Brandon's aunt Ramona came for a visit during Thanksgiving. This was the first time meeting her, it was so much fun!!

We had a family dinner at Brandon's Aunt Connie's house a few days before she left. We ate great food and sat around a talked and I also got to meet Lily (the chinchilla).

Black Friday

This was only my second Black Friday ever!! Usually I am working, as I am driving to work I get to see the mall parking lot jam packed more than it ever is, and this is at 6:45 in the morning!!

This year, I got to be one of the crazies! My first Black Friday was in Seattle a couple of years ago when I spent Thanksgiving with my two best friends. This year I had Petey staying with me and Kristen had just moved back so she came too. We hit Walmart first, they had the Cricut I wanted on sale. We met up with The Jew who staked out the Cricut for me so I would know where to go. Once we picked the Cricut up we found The Jew and held down the fort for some items she wanted while she waited by some others.

please ignore the fact I look atrocious, it's five o'clock in the morning!

After Walmart we stopped by Target (insane, lines going from the front of the store winding around to the back of the store just to check out, we cut, didn't want to wait to purchase two things), then to Jo-Ann's for a few more things, then home to crash!

That night we had our friend Robin over for some divine chicken tortilla soup.

Say what you want about being crazy and waking up that early with the rest of the crazies in the world, we had a great time!!

It was great to have Petey come for a visit as well and to not have school so we could work on little projects all week, she even made me a really cute purse!

Thanksgiving II

This Thanksgiving my mom went to Mike and Sarah's house in Portland, Heidi went down to Cali with Annie which left my dad and I here. It was a bummer not to spend Thanksgiving with the whole fam, but it did make it easy to decide whose family to spend Thanksgiving with...Brandon's.

They've been doing Thanksgiving different for a few years now. It starts off with a movie at the theater, then off to eat at the Chuck O'Rama, and back to the theater for another movie!

My dad joined us as well and Brandon's Aunt Ramona who came to town for a visit and one of my old college roommates, Petey. We had such a great time with everyone.

The first movie we saw was Planet 51, which is an animated film. We weren't really impressed. It was ok, but had some weird underlying messages. I wouldn't watch it again. The Chuck O'Rama was ok. And we were back at the theater for The Blind Side. It was awesome!!! Such a great movie, great story, actors, message and it is based on a true story!! I love it and highly recommend everyone see it.

After the movies we stopped by Brandon's parents to get their newspaper adds to see if there was any Black Friday shopping we wanted to do.

We had such a great time with everyone. It is really nice to have family around to spend time with and enjoy the holidays.

again, pictures to come, they are on Petey's camera!

Thanksgiving I

Thanksgiving at the Capener home has come early, for as long as I've known them. I think it started when Jana left for her mission, she wanted to get her Thanksgiving meal in before she left so they had it early. Then they went to movies on Thanksgiving day and I think this tradition has been perpetuating since.

This year Jesse would be leaving for his mission before Thanksgiving so we had our Thanksgiving meal with them early so he wouldn't miss out. Let me tell you, it would have been a lot to miss out on too!

Patty, Julie and Jana worked real hard on some very delicious food. We had it all; turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, stuffing, gma Judy's creamy onions, mini chocolate pies, red velvet cupcakes, apple pie, and monkey pie. I'm sure there was more, but I can't remember!

It was so good! The Capeners were also so kind to invite my family as well, which made it that much better to have a lot of family around to give thanks and enjoy each others company.

I don't have any pictures on my computer, but I think Jana took one of the whole Brad & Patty Capener family so I will have to get it from her. Picture to come...

OB Clinicals

I LOVED my OB rotation at the hospital!!!

We only had five days total to cover the different OB areas. We spent one day each in Antepartum (before birth, high risk pregnancies, pre term labor etc.), Labor & Delivery, Post Partum (after birth), and Newborn Nursery. We also had the option to spend a day in NICU or a second day in the area of our choice. I opted for the day in NICU and I absolutely LOVED it!!! I was able to work with this amazing nurse who was so great at asking questions to get you thinking about what to do to care for these precious little babies. I had two little 29 weekers (born at 29 weeks), they were so itty bitty, they looked like tiny, old men, I just wanted to hold and love on them.

Labor and Delivery was really great too, except that I didn't get to see a vaginal birth! Too much information? Sorry, it's my blog.

Newborn nursery was so so so much fun too. Basically I just held little baby angels all day long. We also gave baths, did assessments, cleaned bottoms and swaddled.

I absolutely loved it. What could be better than taking care of mamas that worked so hard carrying these precious little souls and then caring for these precious little baby angels.

Aside from the fact that my OB teacher ruined the class for me, I loved the content. I found it so interesting and intriguing. I wish we could have had more time in those units as well as had a rotation in the Pediatric units.

I am so anxious to be done with school and get some real hands on experience!

I wish I had baby face pictures of all my family, friends and their babies so show you all my favorite babies!
