This week Boise has been host to the 2009 Special Olympics. Although most of the week I have been busy with school I was fortunate enough to have a couple of days off. Monday night my dad finagled me an invited to dinner with the delegation from Switzerland. We ate at Kazba, a Greek place in town. It was fun to watch all the athletes who were so happy and excited to be here and to participate in these sports. Heidi and I sat next to Mario. I guess everyone had been giving him a hard time that day, but he was the lucky one that got to sit next to not only one, but two pretty girls. We met the Swiss Consolate who was visiting from San Francisco as well as the head of the delegation, coaches and chaperones. It was cool!
Wednesday I had off from school so I headed up to Bogus to watch some of the competitions. They are amazing, and can ski much better than I can (I can't ski at all). Very impressive and so fun to watch pure, uninhibited excitement. I loved watching the awards ceremony, the expressions of joy and excitement should be bottled up and sold. I even saw one of the athletes I met last year at the trial, he and I were cuttin' a rug at the closing ceremonies last year.
It was an absolutely gorgeous day and it was so fun to be there to see the excitement and to share in the joy!
A big Thank You to the Swiss delegation for letting us be your friends and fans! Good luck in the future and have a safe trip home!!!

Daniela couldn't believe the size of her ice cream dessert, Mike (in the blue next to her) finished off what she didn't eat
