Twin Falls Temple Open House

© 2008, Baxter Camp. All rights reserved.

The temple in Twin Falls is completed and almost ready to be dedicated. Yesterday was the last day of the open house and I have been so busy with work and school that I had not made it over to see the temple. So, Brandon kindly agreed to go with me Saturday morning. I think I may have to make it over once it is dedicated and open for regular sessions because it is so beautiful. Not that any of the temples are not, but its not often that you get to tour around the whole building. I loved it! There are so many windows and glass doors and they have these beautiful little syringa flowers in all of them. There is also this beautiful mural of the Shoshone Falls in one of the endowment rooms that a guy from Rexburg painted. I loved it!
As we walked into the church, the starting point of the tour, we ran into my good friends the Tufts! So we all got in on the same tour, pretty cool and little Boston is just the cutest and had so many wonderful things to say about his experience at the temple. A lot of it sounded like "babababa" and some spitting noises, but I know they were noises of joy!

The anti's were out as well. I thought it was nice how they reminded us to think about eternity before we went into the temple.

Caldwell Night Rodeo

also known as the CNR! Again as per family tradition we hit the CNR on Thursday. We had dinner at the Kiwanis Chuckwagon where you can have all-you-can eat Crookham corn. This is the only time us regular people can get our hands on that golden, delicious, sweet as candy goodness. After we ate we headed over to the "Rowdy" side. I think they must be more rowdy on this side because you have to sit in the blazing hot sun while the "Civies" are in the shade. Why do we sit on this side? Because, it's where the "cool" kids sit. Apparently all the smokers sit on this side too and Brandon asked four different people to please stop because those of us down wind of them were being "smoked out". There was also this big group of middle aged men sitting just below us gambling and drinking to their little hearts content, we counted three different "ice boxes" of beer they bought from the "beer garden", they would thumbs up and thumbs down on the riders and then pass around their money. One guy wanted in on the cash so he was trying to make a deal with the "gamblers" that he would steal the "gold medal" (a little competition we had with the Civies) if they would pay him x amount of dollars. He didn't get his money. There was also this young gal who appeared to be pregnant, and drunk as well who was very excited for everyone that rode, she stood up with her beer in one hand and cigarette in the other and cheered for everyone. Classy! If only we could all be so lucky to have such a loving mother. The rodeo definitely brings out some of the best. As always though it was a good time. It was Brandon's first, he loved getting back to my roots and being surrounded by "hicks".
Thanks Mom for the tickets!

Caldwell Night Rodeo

This was the winning ride. Has anyone else had trouble posting videos directly on blogger? I had to upload this first to YouTube, then post it to my blog, the quality is not anywhere near as good as the original.

Swiss Picnic

As per tradition in my family we attended the annual Swiss Picnic. Every year on the first Sunday in August all the Swiss in the valley, well some of them, I suppose there are some who do not know, well you can come on down next year! We all get together for a potluck picnic, fun, auction and raffle. Always a good time. Here are some pics from the event.
